Colette Sturgis is a NIWH studentColette Sturgis, BS, from the Bronx, New York, attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. where she majored in Biology and was a premed student. Fascinated by the miracle of childbirth, she decided that working with pregnant women, particularly those who did not have family support, was truly what she wanted to do. She is a Certified Doula and coordinates a team of Community Health Workers who provide home visiting services to pregnant and parenting women in underserved areas of the South Bronx, in N.Y.C., with the goal of improving the infant mortality rate. Colette proclaims, “Whole Health Education is bringing all of my knowledge full circle in a powerful and meaningful way. I can now clearly see how everything in the universe is truly connected.”
Bev Wedda is a NIWH studentBev Wedda, M.D., co-founded the Choices Wellness Community Center in Massachusetts and is currently a staff physician at Marino Center for Progressive Health in Wellesley, MA. Bev is committed to whole person health care and have helped create a center that offers holistically oriented services, support and resources. Bev, a primary care physician, practicing Family Medicine, believes in the Whole Health Education philosophy and a whole person approach to medicine. Beverly says, “My experience of the Whole Health Education program is, ‘why don’t medical schools incorporate this [integrated model] into their curriculum?’ I now truly understand how everything is connected to everything else! Every medical professional should be required to take this program.”
Wisal Adams is a NIWH studentWisal Adams is an international student from Sudan who graduated from the Whole Health Educator program. Wisal received her undergraduate training and baccalaureate degree from the University of Khartoum. She completed the in-person Intensive here in Boston. After completing her certification in June, Wisal returned to Sudan, bringing Whole Health Education to her community. Wisal says of her experience in the program, “I love it! I love it! I love it! I’ve had so much fun — the curriculum is easy to understand and really looks at the whole picture. I am so excited about bringing this information to my country and helping others through Whole Health Education.”
Walter Fabiszewski is a NIWH studentWalter Fabiszewski, a certified Personal Trainer, is a distance learning Nutrition Educator student from Cape May, New Jersey, has this to say about his experience of the Whole Foods Nutrition curriculum, “I was introduced to the Nutrition Educator program at NIWH by my best friend, Dr. Michael Troknya. Right away I knew I made the right decision by enrolling in this program. Between the books, comprehensive curriculum and lectures, as well as support from the staff, I now have a wealth of knowledge right at my fingertips.
